Kurt Launches Its 360° Product Advantage At IMTS 2010 –

New Kurt HDM 690 Vise Has 9-Inch Jaw Opening With 0.001 Inch Clamping Accuracy

New HDM 690 Kurt AngLock® Vise, Automated Workholding, Cast Caged Tombstones And MMY MultiChuck Clamping System – See At IMTS McCormick Place, Sept 13-18 Booth W-2423

Minneapolis, Minnesota:  A strong lineup of advanced workholding products bolsters Kurt’s 360° advantage for improved machining productivity. See it all at Kurt IMTS 2010, Booth W-2423, September 13-18.

New Kurt HDM 690 Vise Has 9-Inch Jaw Opening With 0.001 Inch Clamping Accuracy

Kurt’s new HDM690 Vise with a full 9-inch jaw opening clamps larger parts with repeatable 0.001 inch accuracy and minimal stationary jaw deflection. Features rigid stationary jaw with top-down bolting, tall body design to reduce deflection, high precision roller bearings, and specially hardened vise screw mechanism.

This vise distributes clamping force evenly and precisely across the full jaw surface. The AngLock spherical segment in the moveable jaw reduces jaw lift. The pull-type body design reduces stress in the 80,000-PSI ductile iron body, resulting in more accurate clamping.

New Automated Kurt Workholding Fixtures And Systems Load/Unload With Robot Arm

Increased production levels with consistent quality and without adding labor content are the benefits of Kurt’s new automated workholding fixtures. These custom fixtures load/unload parts with a robot arm. These fixtures have pre-load features that center and clamp parts securely. Pressure and proximity sensors communicate wirelessly with the robot and machining center. Workholding setups can be designed for 24/7 operation so as not to require operator interaction with the system. Kurt has capabilities for designing and building automated cells that include assembly and gaging functions to form a complete system.

MMY MultiChuck Clamping Systems Integrate With High Density Towers

Another new Kurt workholding option for improving productivity and precision is the Leader MultiChuck MMY product line. This system consists of 2 and 3 jaw manual self-centering static workholding modules, in 4 sizes from 80mm to 150mm. They are ideal for use on machining centers, milling machines, and grinders. The chucks integrate quickly and easily with Kurt’s high density workholding towers and other devices to provide the ultimate in high productivity and high precision workholding.

Kurt’s MMY MultiChuck provides a simple top face operation that enables more chucks, and therefore workpieces, to be grouped closely together, not possible with traditional side face lock/unlock systems. They have the ability to clamp on both the OD and the ID.

New Kurt Modular ToolBlox Has Cast Caged Design – Lighter, More Economical

Kurt’s new lighter weight building block modules add high density and versatility to most horizontal machining centers. Over 30 percent lighter than comparable size tombstones with aluminum sub-plates. Features bolt holes and dowel pattern on each face for fast installation and removal of sub-plates and other workholding components with repeatability of 0.0002 inch. Manufactured of 80,000-PSI ductile iron. Provides a lower cost alternative to dedicated fixtures.
