Kurt XL Extra Capacity Vises Position And Clamp Large Parts With
Up To 20,000 Lbs. Clamping Force – Have Zero Lift Anglock® Jaw Design

Minneapolis, Minnesota: A 21 inch jaw opening and 20,000 lbs. of clamping force makes Kurt’s XL 8-inch vises the workholding of choice for very large parts requiring aggressive, high speed machining operations. These massive vises are ideal for the largest tool, die and production CNC applications.

Producing up to 20,000 lbs. clamping force, Kurt XL vises lock precisely and with maximum rigidity for the highest horsepower "hogging out" operations as well as high precision milling and drilling operations.

Kurt XL vises feature the time-proven Anglock® design, an exclusive pull-type jaw clamping design feature that reduces stationary jaw deflection by at least 80 percent. Kurt’s Anglock design prevents parts from lifting upward under heavy clamping loads. A hardened spherical segment mechanism produces "all directional" alignment of the jaw components and vise body so clamped parts remain stationary for accurate machining operations at all times.

Equally important, these Kurt XL vises have durable 80,000 PSI ductile iron bodies with precision machined steel components. Required by machinists who want the most robust workholding, the heavy ductile iron bodies provide extra part holding rigidity and long-term accuracy while absorbing machining vibration.

All sides of these Kurt XL vises are machined accurate to 0.001 inch for precise and easy alignment in multiples. They can be used as receivers for other workholding devices. Also, two of these XL vises can be mounted back-to-back and used vertically in a tombstone machine setup.

ILLUSTRATION ONE CAPTION: Kurt’s Model XL vises have large jaw capacity of 21 to 28.765 inches. ILLUSTRATION TWO CAPTION: Anglock design clamps with up to 20,000 lbs precision force while preventing parts from lifting upward under heavy clamping loads.

Kurt XL vises have 6 inch and 8 inch jaw widths with jaw openings up to 21 inches (28.765 inches with jaws set in outside positions for the 8-inch model). A reverse model is available that minimizes "reach-over" distance for unusually large parts making part loading easier for the operator. Also, part programming is easier with this model in the "Y" axis positive direction.

Available in manual, air and hydraulic XL models, the air (6-inch model only) and hydraulic versions have a 1/4 inch stroke. For delicate parts, the air power model provides a precise and repeatable "gentle holding touch."

In addition to the XL vises, Kurt provides integrated custom engineered workholding systems and custom gaging systems for automated manufacturing. Both workholding and gaging are designed around a customer's requirements with systems available for many industries including automotive, medical and aerospace applications.
